Our Story

How we started?

We started in 1998 as “M.Ibrahim Memorial Society” (MIMS) and in 2014 changed our name to “Development Of Societies in Transition” (DOST). We are a non-political, non-religious, non-partisan and not-for-profit organization. Our registration no is SDS-M-5(47).

We have registered as a “Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies” in Pakistan. We are fortunate to have dedicated BoD and volunteers who spend their efforts and experience to run this organization on a volunteer basis. We are always looking for volunteers to support this cause. Where and what?

We primarily operate within the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan and headquartered in Skardu. We aim to improve literacy by providing education to remote areas of Skardu. We are currently operating 8 schools with 525 students. We also run a vocational school that helps to train and earn income at the same time.

We have designed and executed successful projects in some of the most challenging and remote areas of Pakistan. Our successful programs have promoted socio-economic stability through social engagement, capacity building, and economic development. Our objectives include people to people engagement, skills and trainings, cultural exchange, shared knowledge base, women’s empowerment and entrepreneurial development.

Through our work, we Built a sound baseline of information on the civil society sector. We realized the urgency and need to broaden DOST’s reach to other areas of Pakistan. In order to do so, we brought together a team of dynamic international professionals to increase our ability to provide services.
