DOST School

DOST supports the Global Partnership for Education’s strategic directions, which focuses on learning outcomes, the education of female in the remote areas of Baltistan. Our projects are designed to expand and improve comprehensive early childhood education, especially for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. We are committed to ensuring that all children, particularly girls, children in difficult circumstances and those belonging to ethnic minorities, have access to and complete free and compulsory primary education of good quality.

DOST work towards ensuring that the educational needs of all young people and adults are met through access to appropriate learning and life-skills programs. We are committed to eliminating gender disparities in primary and secondary education, with a focus on ensuring girl’s equal access to basic education of good quality. Lastly, DOST work to improve the quality of education and ensure excellence so that recognized and measurable learning outcomes are achieved by all, especially in literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills.

Through workshops, trainings, curriculum development as well as Subject Matter Experts, DOST supports curriculum development for NGOs and governments in the areas of community-focused vocational, early childhood development, entrepreneurial, empowerment. We also support and facilitate efforts towards training formalization, existing protocols into formalizations, governance, process management, project management, quality management, monitoring and evaluation, transparency, anti-corruption, accountability and accreditation. We believe in measurable results developed in collaboration with academics and practitioners.

School

Establishment of Khatija Ibrahim public School System in Shigar Valley

  • 8 schools are running with philanthropist funds and profit from the vocational centre operated by DOST
  • Each school has its building (except one which is under construction). All the buildings were constructed through various NGOs funding.
  • 563 students are currently enrolled including 161 girls
  • Out of 8 schools, 5 school’s education is free –  there are no school’s from government or NGOs in those areas. While the other 3 schools, there is a small fee on students appropriately to their household income and where other Govt schools exist
  • For 5 Schools, expenses and Teachers Salary is being paid by DOST
